The MISSION and PURPOSE of ENVIRO GREEN SALVAGE
It is the mission and purpose of Enviro Green Salvage to address, inform, educate, and provide workable solutions to keep reusable construction materials out of Municipal Landfills through innovative deconstruction and viable alternatives to ensuring the practice of reclaiming, recovering, and reusing building materials. Enviro Green Salvage from its Board, Officers, employees, and trained workers are committed to the preservation and protection of the natural environment thru ecologically sustainable and environmentally sound.
The United States holds the record of producing the highest amount of garbage in the world. The purposes of landfill sites have changed, they are not designed to break down the garbage, merely to bury it. Materials put in a landfill break down very slowly producing emissions of both methane and carbon dioxide gases. Also, landfills are among the biggest contributors to soil pollution. The EPA research indicates the US is on pace to run out of room in landfills within 18 years, potentially creating an environmental disaster. As a result, the EPA provides Sustainable Materials Management including Deconstructing Buildings.
Deconstruction can be applied on several levels to salvage usable materials and significantly cut waste and reduce disposal. This can range from reusing an entire structure to select assemblies and systems, to the careful removal of specific materials or items for reuse.
